Joe,
I think your KPA OOB history is a marvelous idea. There are several period
intelligence summaries on the North Koreans and Chinese on the Army's
Military Historical Institute webpage:

I have a gazetteer on North Korea but I suspect it may be dated 1980's. I
will send it to you nonetheless (it's on my other computer--will do next
a.m.)
