Re: Korean War, One Mans Perspective.
Hi Ed, In answer to your question, about the LST; the LST had no name or
number,
that I am aware of. These LSTs were turned over to the Japanese after WW ll,
by
the U.S. to be used for commercial purposes. The truth be known the Japanese
crews on these ships were truly "unsung heros" of the Korean War, they were
often in "harm's way". Unlike American Merchant Ships, these LSTs had to hit
the beach
to load and unload cargo or personnel. We worked them extensively at Inchon,
Iwon, and Hungnam. I have to sign off now, but if you need more info.give me
a shout. Bill.
