Dear John,
Thanks for clearing up the "Urban Legend Bit", but are we
realy saying
that things like the "Holocaust" etc; should be treated..like some people
do...as an
Urban Legend!!. Some' look upon the Bermuda Triangle as a Mystery' but at
least
modern day technology has now come up with some acceptable reasons as to why
the stories came about to be told in the first place!!
At least we have some solid foundations which can determine whether it was as
you
put it an "Urban Legend"...but' for the moment what is realy being said is -
that Lt.Hub
Gray' of the Can'Light Infantry and his witnesses...deliberately set out to
submit a
"false report" to his acting O.C Captain Wally Mills' "Which as far as we
know' was
recorded' but never put into the War Diary of the 2nd Batt of the PPCLI, !!
Here was
a Lt... a Captain..and 3 other witnesses who understanably must be at a loss
to make
any sense of what they had seen, Thier report is "graffic one" which for
thier sakes
needs to be further investigated!! The precise heading in the journal was as
follows -
PATROL REPORT, LT.HUB GRAY, ZK 4348, PL' "D" COY SECOND BATTALLION,
PRINCESS PATRICIA'S CANADIAN LIGHT INFANTRY, "THE BRITISH COOMMON-
-WEALTH 27th BRIGADE, US ARMY 24th INFANTRY DIVISION, US ARMY IX Corps.
It is alleged to have taken place on 23rd or 25th April 1951 when dug in on
Line Golden
They had faught the Enemys Spring offensive to a standstill at "Kapyong" and
were at
the time reorganising a stationary line, rom which they were probing enemy
positions,
and getting ready to form an "offensive", On ocassions there were company &
battallion
thrusts, the latter having both "Armour and Air Support", The platoon patrol
to which he
referred boarded US Army Patton Tanks' of the 72nd US Heavy Tank Battallion'
which
took them to burnt out "Rail Stop" at "Gumgogni". What convinces me' that
this was no
"Urban Legend" were the "photographs" showing the patrol "WITH" the 72nd US
Heavy
Tank Battallion, a "burnt out train" and a rail sign with "Gumgognyi" painted
on it' in both
Korean and English, Counting the troops in the patrol' seem to indicate at
least "Nine of
Them" and by publishing these photographs...they were sure making it easy for
it all to
be traced back!!
So come on you "US Heavy Tank Batt'n" search your memories' and let us get to
the
bottom of all this!!!
