That is a good question. If we are to believe DPRK propaganda Americans have 
been portrayed as subhuman in the North since prior to the war in 1950. The 
pilots who fought in Vietnam had the same attitudes, and many of them were 
literally blown out the sky by Navy pilots due to their belief in their 
indoctrination based on the "results" of the 1950-53 war. 

Even today, any ROK soldier or government official is simply ignored as a 
"puppet" and the US is constantly slagged with what looks like Joe McCarthy 
era comic book epithets.
