Firstly I would like to say- that the story of Corpsman- D Departs "BRAVE"
and
commendable efforts to save his fellow wounded' was indeed quite touching, In
doing so' he paid the ultimate price for what he did i.e "his own death" And
O.K'
he was awarded the Medal Of Honour for his bravery, I don't know how high an
honour that is? but I would be interrested to know if that is the highest
that can be
awarded to an American Soldier who lays down his life in an attempt to save
others?

The other thing that caught my eye...was the letter reported to have been
written to
the House Leader- Martin in which General Macarther criticised President
Trueman
for not letting him form another front using the Chinese Nationlists?,
Allowed to do
so' the General could well have saved the lives of "many' many" of the troops
under
his command!!
As it is all now history we shall never know if that could have been - "true
or' false"?.
But' looking at what followed the retreat...then I feel that like the recent
conflict in
Yugoslavia where Generals Hands were "TIED" by the "STUPID" and idiotic antics
of Politicians' most of whome cannot even talk a good War..let olone give
opinions
on one!!
What also gets in my craw is...the "Chinese" were in North Korea from day
one' and
so were thier allies "Russia" upto thier necks in supplying every type of
"Ammunition'
Guns and Aircraft" that you could think of?
Those of us defending static positions on hills which changed hands like
dollar bills'
will no doubt recall the first wave of attackers as- "Giant Mongolians" armed
only with
mats to throw over the barbed wire' and played thier parts in the attacks as
did the
Japanese "Kami-Kazi" pilots in the Pacific...they were sometimes followed by
another
wave of North Koreans being egged on by Armed Chinese Officers throwing "Fire
Crackers"...so it didnt matter whether they ran forwards or backwards' as
they were
all treated merely as fodder, and usually to be found in the following weeks
as "ghostly

down!

Lets get back to the Generals...like - Paton, Montgomery, Macarther and even
Rommel
etc; ( there were others I know ) thier men had faith in them, trusted them'
and indeed
died for them, There were rumours that "General Macarther" wanted permission
for to
use the "Atom Bomb"!! so what.? The notice I feel that should have gone to
those like
China and Russia was - that if you dont get the hell out of there...then
suffer the
consequences of your actions!! Instead' there we are over fifty years on
"STILL" at
the tables in Panmunjon arguing over stupid incursions by each other troops.?
Not
only is it "Crazy" its downright "Stupid", Communism can be applauded for
only one
thing...thier "STUPIDITY", Dictators like Hitler, Molosovich, Stalin, Sadam
Hussain etc;
are so entrenched in thier own game of "Power Politics" and lining thier
pockets with
thier "ill gotten gains", that I can see the time rapidly approaching where
the United
States of America' and Great Britain will be- so bogged down with "refugies"
trying
to cash in on State Hand Outs, Freedom and Democracy' that we shall not be
able
to cope with them, Already we have taken in some of the "Scum" of the earth
into
our safekeeping...only to be repaid by them asking' and in some cases
"demanding
that they be given "more", Offered better accomdation than they had from
whence
they first came...they say "its not good enough" and "jostle visitors" and
even our
own pensioners' by carrying tins' and thier "babies" wrapped in blankets
begging on
our streets, "WHY MUST WE HAVE TO PUT UP WITH IT"?.
As in "Korea" our Politicians were afraid to upset the "Russians and the
Chinese" and
like the "bullies" that they are' they are still afraid of them...and we all
know what you
get if you give in to a "BULLY", For goodness sake...hold on to your "arms
over there"
as the time may come when they will be needed!! If it were not for my "grand
children"
I doubt that I would even want to warn anybody of the threat I see comming in
the not
too distant future???
