The Presidential order to integrate the armed forces came in 1948.  Don
Gill states that he did not see black Marine riflemen, just truck drivers
and the like, when he was in Korea during the first six months of the War.
Krulak may well have integrated the 5th Marines, but what about the rest of
the force?

Secondly, I had specifically asked for the provenance of where MacArthur
apologized to Shepherd.  They very rarely met, and that is why I am curious
about this remark.  I understand Shepherd told you it was given, and I am
certain that it was said.  But where, and when?
