You all, Do see Stanley Weintraub's MacArthur's War. The sub-title "Korea and the Undoing of an American Hero" tells much of it. Shepherd's moments with MacArthur are well enough covered, but no "apology" is there in my reading. It does make the judgement of MacArthur seem doubtful indeed, particularly his use of Almond.
