Anyone who is knowledgeable about the Korean War will have to agree that Ned Almond was a complete zilch, totally incapable and promoted by the Army beyond the rank he should have been, PFC, and most likely a not very good one, at that. For an excellent, and not completely, but laudable, review of Russ' book by a Chosin veteran and the Director Emeritus of the Marine Corps, BGen Ed Simmons, see April issue of "The Journal of Military History." Dad and I talked about Russ' book when I was out in California... he said he had thought that Russ did a terrific job. And, he did not have anything nice to say about Gen Almond, either, witness the denial of the constant reports of ChiCom infiltration....
Hope you got in touch with dad ok.
