Re: KLO KIA's
Jim,
I have a history written by 8th Army Historical Unit which identifies it
as the 8086th Army Unit. The doc was written in late 1952-early 1953.
Reason date is important is originally the 8086th Army Unit was 8th Army
G-3 Miscellaneous Group, 8th Army's partisan and special operations unit.
The Misc. Gp. was absorbed by Far East Command's 8240th Army Unit
so the 8086th AU ceased to exist as of 10 Dec 1951. While I have nothing
to back this up, I assume someone at 8th Army assigned this AU number
to the history unit so 8th Army could say, "8086th partisans? No way. The
8086th is the historical unit for this command." <LOL> I have no idea what
the historical unit's AU number, if it had one, was before it was assigned the
8086th AU number.
