Re: KLO KIA's

Mike
I can understand why the ROKA guys feel the way they do. For what it's worth,
we carried a lot of those fellers with us up north. The USAF/USA/Marine types
that were running them tried that "down the nose" crap on the troops - but -
only once at least on our boat the R-1-667.
We had just taken them aboard at Chodo. I was in the pilot house doing some
chart work for the mission and heard this very loud furor up on deck.
SSGT Frank Radsinski, my gunner, armorer, and seaman had some USA Captain
essentially pinned against the starboard guntub giving him what for about
calling the troops "slopeheads and gooks." Frank told this guy in no
uncertain terms he never wanted to hear that again from any, repeat any,
characters like the Captain from "down south." The word was out and it never
happened again!
However, one must understand Frank and his background. He had been a
paratrooper in the big war and worked the Philippines as such. He had two
Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, and the Distinguished Service Cross. He had
worked with the Philippine troops behind the lines during the big war and to
Frank we were all created equal! Oh yeah, and his brother was killed in Korea.
