The Han River Bridge Incident
The Hang River bridge was blown up by SK engineers while some friendlies
were still on it.
Who gave to order to blow it up?
Infinitivally, the Chief Engineer Choe was blamed and he was shot. Later, a
military court cleared this poor fellow (Ooops! A wrong man - so sorry).
This court determined that Fat Chae (ROKA COS at the time) gave the order.
An American adviser stated that he was in a jeep with Choe when the bridge
was blown and that he was not aware that he advisee Choe had received or
gave an order to blow up the bridge. This advisor also stated that the
order came from another KMAG officer.
My hunch is Capt. James Hausman (advisor to Chae) gave the order, even
though Hausman fingers poor Chae and even suggests that Chae was probably a
Communist. In a sense, a Communist blowing up the bridge makes more sense
than an inept friendly fellow doing it.
Does anyone know the truth?
