Overall there were over two hundred released after capture during the course of
the war, all by Chinese troops. Most of this was during the fluid phase --
Oct 50
through July 51 but some releases did take place during the July 51-July
52, these
after the Americans were captured during limited Chinese operations to take
terrain
features. The data suggests that for the most part the releases were low-level
Chinese troops who were under pressure and didn't want to be bothered by
prisoners
but didn't want to kill them either.
