Keep in mind when reading Black Soldier, White Army that David Carlisle had 
made enormous efforts to get this unsatisfactory (to him and many others) 
work withdrawn.  Carlisle was the USMA class of 50 who was sent as an 
engineer to Korea as a replacement in the 24th Infantry Regiment.  Sadly, he 
passed early this year after a life of distinguished service to our nation.
