Carl I had the opportunity to review an early executive draft of the book. I 
took high umbage with the notion seemingly presented by the authors that the 
Eight Army in Japan was universally using drugs and so passed on my thoughts 
to the authors. 

In my 15 months in Japan with the Cav, all white at the time, I never knew 
anyone who sold or was on drugs. 

When the book finally came out, it limited its scope to addressing the dope 
situation at specific coastal areas in Japan and the south where the 24th Inf 
was situated. 

Valid questions as to who supplied the stuff in the first place, how was it 
delivered and why remain.
