Ed,

You talk of companies and battalions.  "L" Company of the 21st Inf had 17 men 
present for duty from 11 July until mid August.  The 3rd Bn of the 34th 
Infantry's strength should be cited in this story of this day.  The numbers 
of replacements posted to this unit this soon after the fight at Taejon was 
not many and the unit was not very cohesive at best.  I'm sending this to a 
medic from the 1st bn of the 34th of that era who has transformed himself 
into a historian, and to the 21st Infantry's historian for their comments..
