Tommy, Initially, Su-76s in the USSR were used as both, but they couldn't survive on the battlefield as ersatz tanks. Most of the time they were used in AT roles they fired from ambush, and the KPAF appears to have done that with them. They could also be used as regular artillery, which probably was safer.
