October 2

The 3rd and Capital ROK Divisions continued their advance north on Korea's
east coast, with 3rd ROK Division advance troops reaching the Seoul-Kosong
road junction late in the afternoon. In the central sector, ROK II Corps
moved troops into a rough Uijongbu-Ch'unch'on line just below the 38th
Parallel preparing to cross and advance north. Meanwhile the UN Command
issued Operations Order #2 which called for U.S. I Corps to seize a line
west of the Imjin River with not less than a division, and to concentrate
the corps in an assembly area there as rapidly as U.S. IX Corps could
relieve it.
