October 5
The 1st Cavalry Division advanced north of Seoul to secure the U.S. I Corps
assembly area north of the Imjin River. In mid-afternoon, I Company, 5th
Cavalry Regiment, crossed the Imjim River at Munsan-ni. During the day,
the 27th Commonwealth Brigade began moving by air from Kumch'on to Kimpo
and from there on to the I Corps assembly area near the 38th Parallel.
Meanwhile, at I Corps, the order went out to cross into North Korea and
begin the attack toward P'yongyang as soon as the 1st Cavalry Division was
ready.
On the east coast, ROK I Corps units continued their advance toward Wonsan.
