October 6
In the central sector, ROK II Corps' 6th Division crossed the 38th Parallel
north of Ch'unch'on and advanced toward Hwach'on where its advance was
stopped short of the town by two dug-in North Koran regiments.
On the east coast, the 3rd ROK Division, followed by the Capital ROK
Division, continued its advance up the coast road.
Meanwhile, the 1st, 5th and 11th (Artillery) Marines had closed on Inch'on
and began out-loading for the Wonsan landing. The 31-foot tides at Inch'on
made this a slow, frustrating business.
To the south 7th Infantry Division units moved toward Pusan for
outloading. While crossing the Mun'gyong Pass, the head of the 2nd
Battalion, 31st Infantry column was ambushed, suffering 9 casualties.
