Re: Searchlight battalion
I wonder if someone knows anything about the activities of the 65th Inf,
Regiment from Puerto Rico ( trained at ,in,Ft. Buchanan,P.R. ) in Oct.
1950. The 65th arrived in Pusan Sept 23 but there ain't nuttin about them
so far. What happened? Lissening to Puerto Rican radio programs here
in Orlando, the Central Florida area, one would be led to think that the
65th were so brave that they even helped rescue the Marines from the
claws of the Chinese in Chosin and/or Koto ri and Hagaru ri campaigns/
battles. Some of them even claim that Gen. Mac Arthur had said "give
me P R soldiers like those of the 65th and I'll invade China."
Of course,I think THAT is pure, unadulterated baloney. But,believe it or
not, there are some people who believe cockamamie stories.
I'd like to know the FACTS ! Can somebody help with some info?
