Re: 18 inch Gun Tubes
Perhaps I should clear the air on this 18 inch gun thing. I only
wanted to comment on the hospital ships as a subject.
1. The name of the Danish hospital ship who was anchored in the
harbor at Inchon in 52'/53 was the "Jutlandia".
2. Second point was that, serving in WWII in the Atlantic/Pacific
we saw and worked with the U.S. Navy hospital ships. It was then I was
informed that an eighteen inch, coastal artillery gun barrel was used in one
of the hospital ships as ballast mounted to her keel. I do not know the name
of the ship.
Comment: It is interesting that the mention of the 18" gun
sparked so much interest and the source was so innocent.
