Re: First appearance MiG-15s

Greetings all.

Fortunately for the Australians at least, it was an American flight of F-51s
that bumped into the MiGs on 1 November 1950.

77 Squadron RAAF did not encounter MiG-15s during its Mustang phase - the first
clash occurred on 29 August 1951, by which time the unit was flying Meteor F.8s.
One Meteor, flown by WO R.D Guthrie, was shot down and he ejected and became
POW.  Another Meteor (Sqn Ldr D.L. Wislon) was shot up, but made it back.  No
Australian claims were lodged for this fight.
