After Dean's release he was awarded the Medal of Honor and retired shortly 
after that.  I heard it was California but have no idea whereabouts.

Hi all-

   Yes, Dean retired to Berkeley and frequented the University (where I went 
to school and taught).
   He was a somewhat controversial character, nonetheless revered, and he 
liked to stay in the public eye. The press liked him.
   Most here thought he was a great guy, down to earth, and a real hero.
