Re: History questions
I guess he wasn't as much controversial as you sure knew he was
around.
Wasn't Nimitz from the hill country of Texas near where LBJ was
from?
Thanks for your answer.

Hi Tommy-
Oh boy, it's been a long time ago and I didn't mean to imply
anything
derogatory. General Dean was not the shy retiring type and he had no
trouble
voicing his opinions on various subjects which sometimes
conflicted with
the opinions of others. He seemed to relish this and from time to time he
would make the news. He was very distinctive with his "GI"
haircut and his
enthusiasm but he was in every way a gentleman. And everyone was
interested
in his opinions.
I met both Dean and Nimitz, another Berkeley favorite son and I
would
characterize them as two separate type individuals. Both were people you
would like to know.
I seems to me that Dean eventually retired to Rossmoor, a
retirement
community in Walnut Creek and gradually blended into old age obscurity.
It was not my intention to create any kind of controversy.
