Hi Tommy-

   Yes, Nimitz's biography was on TV  last year and it seems the guy was very 
much a gentleman all his life. He grew up in the mid-west somewhere from a 
German family but he kind of adopted Berkeley or Berkeley adopted him later 
on. 
   He  was a Regent of the University and prominent in the Bay Area. He gave 
one of my good friends one of his Admiral's batons which was framed with a 
picture. I don't know whether that tells you anything about him or not :-)
