I am hoping to find information on the US Navy involvement on and near
Formosa before
or during the Korean war.
My father left me a few of his personal items before he passed away. One
was a medal and
ribbon in a plastic case, red, blue and yellow, with a small metal
nationalist symbols attached
to both the ribbon and medal, the medal is bronze with a picture of Chang
Kai Shek and the
nationalist flag, with factories in the background. It is numbered and of
course with Chinese
writing on the medal and on the plastic case.
I've searched pretty much every war web site I could find, from Korea,
Taiwan, pretty much
everywhere in the pacific and have not been able to find any information on
American
involvement to Formosa other than a slight mention of US aid to the
Nationalist, no listings
of units involved, ships or personnel.
Thank you for your assistance
