--------------------

1] Command Histories, WW II through KW.

Most of the Command histories relating to post WW II and
Korean War are under Record Group 349, Records of Joint Commands,
1945-66.

Specifically, most would fall under wither RG 349.3 Records of the Far
East Command (FEC), 1945-57, or

Records of the Pacific Command 1953-61, RG 349.5.

There is also RG 349.5.2 Records of the Headquarters, US Forces, Korea.

Broader records can be found under RG 349, Records of the
Department of Defense, Joint Commands,

or, RG 428 Department of the Navy, 1947 -

2] Diplomatic research - Cables, Correspondence, etc.

National Archives also has Records of Foreign Service Posts of the
Department of State, RG 84.

The various records under Diplomatic Posts includes: China, 1843-1948
South Korea, 1948-1956, and Korea, 1882-1955.

Less useful are the Records of Consular Posts, incl. South Korea
1948-1956
and Taiwan, 1887-1956.
