Explosive box, usually rigged in the tail of an aircraft
(to blow off the tail), set to explode at a pre-determined
altitude. In those days, OSS devices were rigged for
5,000-ft. (Would make it difficult to get over some of
China's mountains at that altitude!) "Keep to the valley's
boys"!
