Well stated, Mark and Paula:
I recall that last year, one of the few NK web sites retracted its web page
on the Korean War history, admitting that some of the 'facts' cited were
inaccurate (e.g., sinking an American warship, annihilating a US div, etc.).
I keep on telling NK fellows that its propaganda staff are its worst enemy.
Sometimes I wonder just whose side they are on. Many of the claims they
make are so silly that they help their "enemy" more than their cause. It may
be that NK agits have moles.
Another aspect is that NK archives are much less extensive than ours. NK
lost much of its war documents during the war and their record keeping is
rather primitive, even today. For example, the 'sinking' of an American
destroyer was based on a battle report but NK intelligence could not confirm
otherwise, and a handul of NK sailors got medals "free". An American reader
sent the webmaster a document proving the ship was hit but did not sink.
