Re: North Korean Version of the War
Mike,
Be sure to talk about how often there was friendly fire. The official
history, South to the Naktong, North to the Yalu talks of the five Australian
P-51s that shot up my first outfit at Pyongtaek on 4 July. The one man they
hit was under the mess truck, visible from the air. The rest of us were well
dug in and perfectly safe. How long did it take for the North Korean Army to
learn this, and then the Vietnamese? It is an important subject. My
province in Vietnam was 20 miles from the end of the runway at Bien Hoa. We
did not lack air support. It was just not relevant to the war we were
fighting.
Best,
Carl Bernard
