U. S. Naval Hospital, Yokosuka, Japan
Hello all.
I'm new to this list & wanted to send out a few names of men who served at
this hospital - to see if anyone was there or remembers these men, including
my father:
Donald Lee ROWE:
Served Korean War 4 Dec 1947 out of San Diego, CA to 17 Dec 1951. Corpman.
U. S. Naval Hospital, Yokosuka, Japan from Dec 1950 to Dec 1951 (one year & 2
days]. Surgcal ward & pre-op, NP Ward: clerical.
Received:
Navy Occupational Medal
Korean Service Medal
Unit Citation Award for outstanding service (after the 5,000 injured Marines
arrived from Chosen Reservoir to the U.S Naval Hosp.)
and a few others...
Don ROWE (now living in Long Beach, CA) recalls a few names of friends of his
at the same place & time:
James KARDAR (USN Hospital Yokosuka)
last name DUIT (Doo-ett) (sp?),
Leo SANCHES - who was killed just two weeks into the war.
Robert ROBERTS (San Diego and USN Yokosuka)
Rudy RODRIGUEZ ( San Diego and USN Hospital Yokosuka)
Also - a wounded Marine cared for at the hospital named SGT. RALPH
SALAMONIE/SALAMONY (sp?). Ralph forgot his dogtags at the Hospital, and my
Dad has saved them all these years "just in case".
Thanks!
Let me know if anyone has memories of any of this! :-)
