They were civilians; not doubt about that.  The amount of bodies was 
impossible to estimate and less we would have dug them up, but with the 
warmer weather starting to arrive, the stench was unreal.

As to the location of the site, I do not know, as it was most of the time in 
that war, the ground troops never knew where they were at.
