Don, Thanks for that info!
I heard some G.I.s got hurt from US planes.
BTW, were you in the Marine?
How does a tank use napalm?
John, in war, not only are GI's, sailors, airmen and Marines hurt by US
planes they are also killed by other friendly forces. The term used for
American armed forces (or their allies) mistakenly firing on Americans is
"FRIENDLY FIRE." I personally experienced 5 different occasions (that I know
about) of "friendly fire." One by small arms from another Marine unit, one
from small arms fire from an army unit, two air-strikes, one 81 mm mortar
barrage of white phosphorus rounds
Yes, I was a Marine.
I believe that the use of napalm and phosphorous shell have been
outlawed. Since I was not a "tanker" I have no idea where the tanks that held
the napalm was, but the old Sherman tank was equipped with a flame throwing
nozzle that was protruded from it turret. The turret also was equipped with
the standard 75 mm gun that the old Sherman tank had.
John if you don't mind me asking -- how old are you?
Have a nice day -- Don
