Re: Uncle was MIA in 1950-1951 - never found

Ed - The rosters in Archives are outdated. The most recent information on KW
casualties is contained in a roster of 36,570 names put out by the DOD
effective Jan 1, 2001, amended again in April 1, 2001, to correct two entries
- total now is 36,568. The list contains all of the battle and non-battle
deaths listed in-theater in Korea by "incident date" between June 25, 1950
and July 27, 1953.

All other deaths occurring after the Armistice are considered to be
out-of-theater regardless of where they died - Korea, U.S., Germany, etc. At
the present time the DOD is working on putting together a list of some 17,678
names in this category.

Both rosters to total 54,246 names, as is engraved on the KW Veterans
Memorial in D.C.

I have a copy of the DOD roster. Here is the information for Money (Page 726).

Marine PFC Money, Thurmon Wayne, SN 649945, L Battery, 4th Bn, 11th Marines,
1st Mar Div, born 1931, Dec 10, KIA 1950, Dec 2, fom Dallas, TX. The roster
indicates that the body was recovered and returned for burial.
