This brings up a couple of interesting questions that I've never seen asked
or answered:
"What flag, if any, did the Japanese-manned LST's and minesweepers fly?"
And:
"Who actually owned the Japanese-manned ships? U.S.? A Japanese
company? Or a company chartered is some other country?"
The answers to these will provide an answer to as to whether the LST's in
question were "disguised" or simply following international maritime law.
