The society on the whole is more mobile now than ever before. People do not
know your background so the wannabees just tell what they would like for
their life to be. I imagine it is a lot easier to tell strangers what a Hero
you are instead of someone your grew up with. Look around you, most of your
friends are people that you have only know for a few years. Companies
transfer people and the wannabees just tell whatever they have read about
only put themselves in the Hero roll.
At a hair salon near me there is a wannabee (I have never met or seen Him)
The minute He comes in to get His long hair trimmed He starts with the
Vietnam stories. Dresses in fatigues and medals and patches. The whole bit.
His stories (so I hear) get bigger and better every time He comes in. It has
got to the point He disgust everyone there. They say He is about 40 years
old. Did anyone see any kids in Vietnam? If He were a little older He would
be a Korean Vet I guess.
