Okay. We'll say, "The North Koreans began the Korean War with pre-attack
mortar and artillery barrages FIRED from positions north of the 38th
parallel to soften up South Korean positions south of the 38th parallel,
then ATTACKED.
"Attacked" is used to describe an action that continued after the act of
firing. <BG>
