While we could see the weapon on the road at the bottom of our positions, we 
were never told as to why it was there or really what kind it was.  We only 
saw the gun at night when it was brought to the bend in the road to be fired. 
 After firing the one shot, it was moved back around to our rear.  As to its 
caliber, we were never told, nor did we see what unit was operating it.   We 
all took it to be the atomic cannon, as we had heard that the military had 
one and we thought this was it.
