MacArthur recommended continuing the attack and US forces were not yet in 
position to cross when approval arrived.  However, it was mute point since 
South Korean forces were already 30 miles north of the Parallel on the east 
coast and other forces were crossing inland from there on 1 Oct 
1950.  South Korean forces had no intention of returning to the 38th, even 
if the UN ordered.
