Different thing totally.  Those with intelligence backgrounds were
forbidden to VISIT Berlin, not to be assigned there.  I have known three or
four guys who were jerked off of airplanes when they were off for a jaunt
to the pleasures of West Berlin.

If you were ASSIGNED to West Berlin, it is a totally different thing.
