Re: Attitudes toward Korean War

John;
    I would think you might realize that most polls are slanted one way or
the other depending on who's running the poll.  And a simple reading of any
Statistics 101, or Marketing 101 textbook will show you just how worthless
(except to the con artist/spinner) a poll of 218 people represent what 250
million believe.  Then of course, there is the everpresent "silent majority"
who represent 75% of American society as opposed to the very vocal 7% (with
18% not caring one way or 'tother).  Whenever you see the results of a poll,
check into the following:  Who ran the poll and what are their base believes;
 How many people were polled and who were they .  The vast majority of the
time you will find that if a poll favors a liberal point of view it was run
by the Liberals, and they polled only liberals, and then only selected ones
(random? BS!)  If the poll favors a conservative point of view, it was likely
run by a conservative group, and they only polled (a few) conservatives.  And
last, but not least, find out what the ACTUAL question was that was asked.
95% of the time the question was worded so as to elicite the response wanted
by the pollsters!!
(Tell, us John, have you stopped beating your wife? Please respond only with
a "yes" or "no".  Thank you for your help with this poll.  Recent Poll
results on spousal abuse reveal that 90% of all men polled used to beat their
wives, and that 61% still do !! Poll based on 109 randomly selected male
subjects between the ages of 21 and 52. all of whom are residents in state
and federal prisons.  Poll has a + or - factor of 6%.  )
Had that Korean War
poll been taken in my hometown  of 2,800 people it would have probably
revealed that 70% or more felt that we should be in Korea, but that we should
have fought to win, not tie.
    Polls are mostly hocum.
