Re: Korean War
It is good to see bits of pieces of the reality of the Korean War getting
some attention from the media - at long last.
The PBS piece is a far cry from MASH, Rock Hudson and other Beverly
Hillbilly hypes of "..peace-loving, democratic Syngman Rhee getting beat up,
unprovoked, by that commie Kim Il Sung...".
I wonder how many of you have caught the news story about Kim Jung Il
stopping to see a woman in Nobosibirsk. Her husband, a Soviet Army officer
at the time, grabbed a grenade thrown at Kim Il Sung on March 1, 1946 and
thus saved Kim's life. The grenade blew up and the Russian officer lost an
arm and parts of his face. The grenade attack was made by a death squad
from Seoul.
Claiming that Rhee was democratic, peace-loving and Christian insults those
Koreans killed by Rhee's goons. BTW, Rhee taught Sunday School classes in
America.
