Re: Attitudes toward Korean War

Hmmm -

1) Gen. Donovan and Kim Gu met in Chunking in 1944 (?) and OSS agreed to train Kim Gu's troops for covert actions in Korea and the 2nd detachment of Kim Gu's army was assigned to OSS.  Kim Won Bong, an anarchist Communist, headed the Korean operatives.  Kim was noted for his Yiyol-dang, a terrorist organization, which had mounted numerous attacks on Japanese leaders, including Hirohito himself (the bomb failed to explode).

WWII ended before the Korean operatives could mount any mission.  Kim Won Bong returned to Seoul with Kim Gu, but he later went to North Korea and held high positions for Kim Il Sung.  Other OSS-trained Koreans returned home and worked for the US intel orgs.  I believe at least two of these fellows live in America.

2) Mu Jong and other Koreans in Mao's 8th Route Army did engage Japanese troops in China.  Mu Jong commanded Mao's tiny artillery regiment.  Mu Jong commanded the KPA 2nd Army during the Korean War.

I am well aware of the Korean protests against the Japanese in 1905, are
you?

I have made the point that the Korean People for the most part were
Japanese Collaborators except for a few, who shut down all operations
when the Soviets told them to.  Kim Il Sung was one of those.  It is also
interesting that the Communist Koreans with Mao, did little to interfere
with the Japanese during World War II.

I am also aware that the Koreans did nothing to help destroy the Japanese
War Machine nor did they help the OSS in actions against the Japanese.
