When I arrived on the MLR at the end of January 1951, I was warned about bed
check Charlie and he was supposed to be dropping mortar rounds out the window
of the plane. Later, when he was at last shot down, it was supposedly by a
Navy night fighter jet, the one with the long nose on it that housed the
radar and was I think blue in color. I only saw them once in my sector for a
few minutes.
