An ANTI-U.S. dialog
from H-DIPLO at http://www.h-net.msu.edu
From: "Yi, Hyunhwee" <spcltn@hotmail.com>
Dear Colleagues,
I would like to start a discussion thread on American policy toward the
Korean penisula before and during the Korean War. I would be interested
in your thoughts on the following questions:
1) What was "the American diplomatico-strategic tradition(thought)" which
produced so called 'defense perimeter' before Korean War?
2) The geo-strategic status of Korean peninsular has been traditionally very
important to Japan. To America, especially before Korean War, it was not,
however. Why? What is the conceptual difference between American
diplomatico-strategic thought toward Korea and Japan.
3) Can we find any sort of 'the persistent perspective' of U.S. foreign
policy toward i) Korea, and ii)northeast Asia from the end of 19th century
down to the present?
Thank you,
Yi, Hyunhwee
