   Well, this is precisely the kind of thing that McCarthy was critizied for. 
Painting with too wide a brush. No, the intellecuals wouldn't use this 
euphemism to express disgust. They would say something like "meat clever" 
approach.
   For instance, there are many in Europe who strongly feel that the Marshall 
Plan was not at all humanitarian or altrueistic but a well thought out ruse 
in our war against communism, capitalizing on suffering, so to speak. But I 
like to think we are the good guys.
   IMHO George Marshall was a great American and one we can be proud of. Of 
course I could be wrong :-)
