Posible Argentine support to US actions against terrorism

Mr. Resare:

As a citizen of a country which was also struck by the terrorism –for the
ones who did not remember, we suffered the bombing of the Israeli Embassy in
1992 and the AMIA on June 18 1994 in Buenos Aires- I guess our government
will send some kind of military support.
However, do not hope anything much bigger than a regiment; the state of our
Armed Forces is not good. My best supposition is perhaps some group of elite
forces –the Tactic Divers or Amphibial Commandoes- or some regular unit
quite proffesional, not much larger than a battalion, at most a regiment.
Our air force could provide cargo support with its four-engine aircraft
C-130H Hercules (Transport Group 1).
Addittionally, some recent oppinion polls shows the ressistance of the
Argentine people about our country getting directly involved in a open
invasion to Afghanistan. Many people consider the events of the last days as
“not our bussiness” (I disagree) and many other consider that US Army, USAF,
US Navy and USMC are strong enough to perform such task without need of
addittional assistance (I agree). Despite this, I would support some limited
help as the ones I mentioned above (elite troops and/or cargo planes).
I hope this answer your question.
Respectfully yours,
Diego Fernando Zampini
