ADMINISTRIVIA. VIRUS WARNING.

The virus W32.Vote.B@mm was reported and identified 26 September
in the a.m. Its distribution is already high and it has a high
level of potential damage, so you should pay particular
attention.

This worm, like so many others, attacks Microsoft Outlook. I
arrives as an attachment to an e-mail message with the header
"Fwd:This War Must Be Done!" The attachment is named
Anti_TeRRoRisM.exe and may be detected by your antivirus as
W32.Vote.B@mm.

Its payload is 1)sending copies of itself to all addresses in the
Outlook address book, and 2) reformats Drive C:/ If it fails to
reformat, it will freeze the machine and attempt to delete files
in the Windows folder at rebooting. All .htm and .html files will
be overwritten, and the machine may be opened to anyone on-line
who knows what's going on.

The best defense against this worm, as is the case with so many
others is to make sure that your mailer program does not
autmatically open attachments, and to be extremely wary about
opening attachments yourself.
