BTW, could the B stand for "bubonic plague bacilli"?
According to Prof. Endicott's book, "Ishii had a special
enthusiam for bubonic plague bacilli spread by fleas, and
his munitions people developed the explosive procelain bomb in
part to provide an effective delivery system....the Japanese,
like the Americans, had investigated at ....anthrax, cholera, and
typhus at most." Gen. Ishii turned over all his germ data to
the US in 1947 in return for immunity from prosecution.
It's interesting to note that most of the vaccines the G.I.s got
for the Korean War theater was against the germ agents
that were developed by the Japanese. Could some of the
17 shots G.I.s received also included vaccines for anthrax?
