KOREAN WAR DOCUMENTARY PROJECT

Greetings all Korea War L subscribers:

By way of introduction, my name is Hugh John Murray and I am currently
researching the history of the Korean War for a planned 4 x 1 hour
episodic documentary series. The KW doc. project is to be a
Canada/France co-production and will air in 2003, around the 50th
anniversary of the end of the Korean War. The approach of the
documentary will be unique in that the official history will be
juxtaposed with the unofficial history - government releases,
propaganda, press coverage compared/contrasted with first hand accounts
from soldiers and officers from the U.S., ROK, China and NK. This is a
look at the Korean War beneath the politics and international posturing.

I would like to call on you - as war vets, authors, academics, arm chair
researchers (whatever your stripe) - to offer your input as to what what
kinds of events and experiences warrant coverage. And to this end, if
you yourself were involved in any extraordinary effort (for example,
Carl Bernard in TFS - very excellent account posted on this site in
October 2000) I would very much like to hear from you (or post on the
site). Very broadly, areas of interest are the Land War (battles of
interest - TFS, Chosin etc...?), the Air War (cart blanche- everything
to intro. of MIGs vs. Sabres to napalm use), covert operations (CIA,
North Korean Partisans....etc?), the BW question (I realize this is a
contentious issue after perusing the postings - but it is to be explored
as a possibility for lack of any smoking gun evidence), the US domestic
(politics, society) situation pre and during KW, USAF Commander Curtis
Le May (haven't found a lot of info on him - is it because he was a bit
of a maverick and the US doesn't want to publicize that too much? But
very interesting character), agitprop/propaganda from both sides and
miscellaneous (atrocities, refugees etc.).

FYI This is not my project - I am a freelancer, in this instance, hired
by a Montreal production company to research the KW.
